Is it worth the effort and time....???
Of all the rituals of working life, the anuual torture of the performance appraisal stands out as the most useless and time-consuming. True, an apparaisal is better than no feedback. But not as a quicksand of unquantifiable HR buzz words, bureaucratic forms and boxes to be ticked. It's no surprise that no one comes out of them learning anything new about themselves. Usually when an organisation says "Our people are our greatest asset" pffftt you can believe it about as much as " The customer is always right". Appraisals need revamping. They are a lose-lose proposition. Employees hate them becuase they're useless, and managers despise them, hmmm me, because they are usually ill prepared for giving them and, besides, they have too many other things to do. 2 long weeks of preparation, interviewing, late night reccommendations etc etc. I've finally completed this long haul of wasted time. Well thats how I feel anyway.

Yes amazing !! I can't justify which staff member deserves a pay rise and which one doesn't. As far as I'm concerned if the organisations expectations are met, then the whole firm should be given a pay rise or some sort of recognition for employees achievements or in my words...helping to boost the organisations prophets... !! Thanx for your comment Cattttt !!
I really enjoyed looking at your site, I found it very helpful indeed, keep up the good work.
